Paramour was inspired by the stories of female inmates at Ireland's now defunct Magdalene Asylums. "Fallen women"- single mothers, prostitutes, the mentally ill, etc. - were sent to the asylums - which were run by the Catholic church - for moral rehabilitation. The women were put to work in laundries and forced to endure hard labour and extreme behavioural rules to atone for their supposed sins.

Lisa Cuthbert has been described as "a darker Tori Amos" but, in my humble opinion, Lisa is way cooler than that. Please check out the link above, see what it's all about, and spread the word as far and wide as possible!
